Photo Contest
The City of Shorewood is accepting entries for the 2026 Community Photo Contest
The goal is to inspire individuals to explore and highlight the City of Shorewood through their creativity and talent. Everyone is encouraged to participate, including residents of all ages and businesses. Photos will be evaluated based on creativity, composition, and expression of the category.
Animals
Photos of pets or wildlife.
Events
Capture the joy of neighbors, friends, and family that bring people together in Shorewood. Events can include City-led programs or anything you host, as long as it’s in Shorewood.
Nature
Capture the natural beauty throughout Shorewood. This may include landscapes, parks and trails, flora, lakes, ponds, and other subjects that do not include people, pets, or wildlife.
Recreation & Lifestyle
Showcase the enjoyable aspects of recreational pursuits, hobbies, leisure activities, and daily life in Shorewood.
Showcasing Shorewood
Something that distinguishes Shorewood from other cities.
Youth
This is an opportunity for photographers 17 years old and younger. Any submissions in this category are eligible to win.
- The contest is open to anyone who lives, works, or attends school in Shorewood.
- Photos must be taken in Shorewood between January 1 - December 31, 2026. Photographs taken during any season are eligible.
- Contestants may enter up to 15 photos (up 3 photos allowed per category). Contestants under the age of 18 can submit up to 5 photos in the youth category.
- Photos must be submitted via an online form, or emailed to City Hall at cityhall@shorewoodmn.gov, along with a completed photo release form (PDF). Contestants under the age of 18 must have consent from their parent/guardian.
- Photos must be in high-resolution .jpeg, .jpg, or .png format.
- Each photograph should indicate the photographer’s first and last name, contact information, age (if under 18), intended category, location photo was taken and photo caption or title. Unique captions to photographs are welcome.
- Photos can be color or black and white. Minor digital enhancement is permitted. Photo submissions that appear unnatural, or with professional logos or watermarks will not be considered.
- Participants must have permission from any persons pictured in the photo to use that photo and permission of a parent in case of minors. Subject permissions must be obtained before submitting photos.
- Once submitted, entrants grant reproduction rights (both print and digital) to the City of Shorewood.
- Photos must be submitted by December 31, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. Submissions received after the deadline will not be eligible.
- Photos will be evaluated based on creativity, composition, and expression of the category.
- Entries are reviewed by a panel of judges selected by the City of Shorewood between January 1-31, 2027.
- All photos will be entered into a people’s choice category, in which votes will be accepted via social media.
- Winners in each category will be notified by phone or email, and will receive a framed print of their winning photo(s) in February 2027.
- Winning entries may be published in the Shore Report and print materials, displayed at Shorewood City Hall or Shorewood Community & Event Center, and highlighted on the City’s website and social media.
