Election Judges serve our community in the polling places on election day. Qualified individuals interested in being a Shorewood election judge can submit the Election Judge Application to the city.

THE PURPOSE AND INTENDED USE OF THE INFORMATION COLLECTED 

1. The information we collect about you is classified by law as either public (anyone can see the information), private (only you or anyone authorized by you or by law can see the information), or confidential (you cannot see the information). 
2. The purpose and intended use of this is to aid the City of Shorewood, as the election administrator, in determining your qualifications to serve as an election judge.

MAY YOU REFUSE OR ARE YOU LEGALLY REQUIRED TO SUPPLY THE INFORMATION WE ASK FOR?  WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR SUPPLYING OR REFUSING TO SUPPLY THE INFORMATION? 

1. You have the right to refuse to supply the information requested and there  is no legal requirement that you provide the information requested. 
2. If you supply the information requested, it will aid the city in deciding whether you meet the essential qualifications to serve as an election judge. 
3. If you refuse to supply the information requested, your application will not be complete and, as such, may disqualify you.

WHO HAS ACCESS TO THE PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU? 

1. Individuals in the City Clerk’s office of the City of Shorewood.  The Shorewood City Council may also have access to the information.  The Head Election Judges for each precinct will have the information for each of their precincts.  Hennepin County Election personnel and possibly the School District Election personnel if applicable for purposes of elections.   
2. Individuals or agencies for which a State Statute, Federal law or State Commission of Administration authorizes a new use or sharing of the information after you have been given this notice.    

By signing below, I authorize that my information can be given to the head election judge of the precinct in which I serve, to Hennepin County Election personnel, and School District personnel for the sole purpose of elections.  I waive my right to claim and hereby agree to hold harmless the City of Shorewood and any of its agents or employees for any injury or damage which I may experience as a direct or indirect result of the intended use of this information. 

I also affirm that I meet the qualifications of serving as an Election Judge: 

• I am eighteen (18) years of age or older;
• I am a United States Citizen;  
• I am eligible to vote in Minnesota;
• I am able to read, write, and speak English;
• I have not had any civil rights denied due to conviction of a felony offense;
• I am not the spouse, parent, stepparent, child, stepchild, sibling or stepsibling of any election judge serving in the same precinct or of any candidate in that election;
• I do not live, either permanently or temporarily, with any candidate on the ballot at that election in which I am applying to work;
• I am not a candidate in the election.
