2025 Mill & Overlay

The 2025 Mill and Overlay Project was completed in August 2025.

As a cost-effective method of prolonging the life of an aging pavement, “mill and overlay” refers to a road maintenance technique in which the top layer of existing asphalt is first removed using a milling machine (the “mill”) and then replaced with a new layer of asphalt (the “overlay), creating a smoother surface and effectively resurfacing the road without a complete reconstruction.

2025 Mill & Overlay Locations & Schedule

Road construction will take place in 3 phases. Please note that all schedule dates are tentative and weather dependent.

  • Ash Tree Removal: As part of the 2025 Mill and Overlay project, crews will be removing ash trees along and within the right of way during the week of June 16-20. This action is necessary due to the trees' susceptibility to the Emerald Ash Borer.
  • Phase 1: Boulder Bridge, Shorewood Oaks, and Smithtown Circle is scheduled to start in mid-late June.
  • Phase 2: Wild Rose Lane, Freeman Park, Yellowstone Trail, and Public Works Parking Lot is scheduled to start late June.
  • Phase 3: Eureka Road and Orchard Circle is scheduled to start in early July.

What to Expect During Construction

When the contractor is working on your segment of the project, please be patient for everyone’s safety. We ask that you please follow the directions given by the workers. If you have an invisible fence or irrigation system, please mark them prior to work beginning to reduce the risk of damaging the system.

The intent of the project team is to maintain access to properties throughout the construction; however, at times construction activities may interfere with access to individual properties for a short period of time. With that in mind, the project team will work with individual property owners during times of disruption. Please do not park on the street when construction begins.

Following the milling operations, contractors will be adjusting public utility items in the roadway and preparing the existing pavement for final paving. Once a final paving date is set, a notification will be sent as a reminder.

Additional information will be sent as needed to inform residents of any vital construction activities.
