Glen Road, Manitou Lane, and Amlee Road Improvements Project

Glen Road, Manitou Lane, and Amlee Road is a single access development in the north portion of Shorewood and connects 65 residential properties to County Road 19.  The road pavements in the neighborhood had significant deterioration and needed to be rehabilitated.  Multiple drainage concerns throughout the project area also needed to be addressed, and the neighborhood did not have municipal water.  

The street was replaced with asphalt and curb, drainage problems corrected, and watermain installed, allowing residents to connect to municipal water and improve fire protection to the neighborhood.  Additionally, stormwater treatment was added in the form of a bioretention basin and existing storm ponds were cleaned.  A culturally sensitive area adjacent to the project required additional documentation and inspection by an archaeologist.

The project costs were $3.6M and included project design and permitting, easement acquisition, construction, and inspections.  Approved change orders for poor soils and additional drainage improvements during construction added $62,000 for a total cost of $3.66M. The project was funded through a combination of street and utility bonds, and the City’s Water, Sanitary Sewer, and Storm Sewer Funds. The total 2021 project CIP was $3.6M.
