The Shorewood City Council held work sessions on August 12 and September 9 to discuss the preliminary 2025 operating budget and property tax levy. A Budget Open House was held on September 23 to give residents an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on the 2025 budget. City Council adopted the 2025 preliminary budget and property tax levy during the regular meeting on September 23. The City certified the 2025 property tax levy to Hennepin County on September 25. In November, the County will send Truth-in-Taxation notices to property owners, showing proposed 2025 property taxes.
At this point, the preliminary 2025 budget and levy cannot increase, it can only be reduced. As part of its regularly scheduled City Council meeting on Monday, December 9, the City Council will hold a truth-in-taxation public meeting on the proposed 2025 budget and property tax levy.
The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Shorewood City Hall. Residents are welcome to attend in person or online and provide comments on the 2025 budget. The Council is expected to adopt its final payable 2025 property tax levy and 2025 budget at the December 9 meeting and will certify the 2025 property tax levy to Hennepin County on or before December 27.
Meeting information, including 2025 budget documents, agenda packets, minutes, and links to videos, can be found on the City’s website at shorewoodMN.gov/CityBudget.
