[ARCHIVED] Metronet fiber optic construction anticipated to begin in late August

Metronet will begin preparing for fiber optic installation throughout Shorewood starting this fall to provide internet services to residents and businesses. This work is part of a larger deployment in areas of Carver County adjacent to Shorewood. Metronet will install fiber optic cable both overhead where overhead utilities already exist, and underground where overhead facilities are not present.

Crews will be marking and working areas designated as right of way and utility easements, typically located within a strip of land running along the street, the rear lot line, or between two lots. Utility marking flags and paint will remain in place until construction of the network is complete. Metronet will restore lawns in areas where digging occurs.

Shorewood residents should anticipate communications from Metronet to include mailed letters, postcards, and yard signs.

Metronet Fiber Optic Deployment Plans

Metronet’s fiber optic deployment plans were presented at the Shorewood City Council meeting on August 12, 2024. They are available to view or download from the City’s website.
