2025 Preliminary Budget & Property Tax Levy
The City is currently working on its preliminary 2025 operating budget. A City Council budget work session was held on Monday, August 12 at 5:30 p.m., and a second budget work session is planned for Monday, September 9. Agendas for work sessions can be found on the agendas and minutes page of the City’s website.
The City Council is expected to adopt the 2025 preliminary budget and property tax levy at its September 23 meeting. The preliminary levy must be certified to Hennepin County by September 30, after which the levy cannot increase, but it may be decreased before the final levy is set in December.
Truth-in-taxation
Property owners will receive truth-in-taxation notices in November from the County, showing proposed 2025 property taxes. The City Council will hold a truth-in-taxation public meeting on the proposed 2025 budget and property tax levy, tentatively scheduled at the regular City Council meeting on Monday, December 9. The Council may adopt the final 2025 property tax levy and budget at the December 9 meeting. The 2025 property tax levy must be certified to Hennepin County by December 28, 2024.
