Shorewood Public Works will be starting annual sanitary sewer cleaning on Monday, June 2 (weather pending).
This year's cleaning will take place on the southeast side of the city. Neighborhoods included in this area will be Sweetwater Curve, Near Mountain Blvd, McKinley Ct, Shady Hills, and Muirfield.
Here are a few reminders during this cleaning process:
- You may hear a faint train sound coming from the pipes. This is normal and just means that crews are cleaning in your area.
- Please keep toilet lids closed when not in use. Although it is rare, when the crew is cleaning, the process creates a small vacuum and when the pressure is released, it may "burp" the toilet.
- There will be a large vac truck that is placed in the middle of the roadway, a pick-up truck, and cones that may be placed around open manholes within the roadway. Please proceed with caution when you see these pieces of equipment or us. THIS IS FOR YOUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF CREWS.
- This is routine scheduled maintenance that is done every 4 to 5 years. In most cases, you won't even know we were there.
